Janelle Monáe is readying the release of her upcoming album ‘The Electric Lady’, expected later in the year. The album is preceeded by the funky track ‘Q.U.E.E.N.‘ featuring nu-soul diva Erykah Badu.

Lady GaGa dominates 2010 MTV VMA Nominations with 13 nods

The MTV Video Music Awards are back on September 12th. Huzzah!

Janelle Monae has reswizzled her excellent ‘Tightrope’ single with a little help from rappers B.o.B. and Lupe Fiasco (and is that Andre 3000 we see rocking out on guitar? No really – is it, or are we seeing things again?) She’s even chucked out a new video to celebrate this highly successful collaboration. Check it out below, and check the original here.

‘Tightrope’ is taken from Monae’s kerr-azily titled ‘The Archandroid: Suites II and III‘, which is out now.

It’s been well over a year since we wrote about Janelle Monae‘s ‘Many Moons‘, and despite the big budget clip and general air of expectation (she’d already released a few singles and EPs by this point), Monae seemed to drop off the radar shortly afterwards.

All this looks set to change, however, as her new video ‘Tightrope‘ has just appeared, and very good it is too. Janelle Monae‘s first full length album, The Arch Android, follows on May 18th 2010.
