Who’d have thought that Rihanna would/could leave a whole three months between videos? It’s unheard of!

The fact that she is naked in a bath for the Sophie Muller-directed ‘Stay‘, however, is not in the least bit surprising.

The 55th Grammy Awards took place in Los Angeles last night, and top ‘gongs’ went to people like .fun and Mumford & Sons. Ewww. (Here is a round-up of the top winners.) Oh – and Adele earned her ninth Grammy, bizarrely, for a live performance of ‘Set Fire To The Rain’.

After the success of the lead single ‘Diamonds‘, Rihanna is now going for a two pronged approach for the second single off her 7th album Unapologetic. Worldwide, she’ll be releasing the ballad ‘Stay‘ featuring Mikky Ekko and the American urban radio stations have been sent the gritty ‘Pour It Up‘.

It’s been a while since Rihanna last released a ballad for a single. Which one do you prefer?

Mutya, Keisha & Siobhan (MKS), a.k.a. Sugababes 1.0 played their first gig together in 12 years. The reformed band made their appearance at Ponystep’s New Year’s Eve party and played some of their old songs and a cover instead of showcasing new material. However the girls did show they can still nail a harmony when they sang ‘Diamonds‘ by Rihanna. Check out the performances below.

It’s no secret that the Rihanna smash ‘Diamonds‘ was co-written by Australian ~~parttime singer~~ songwriter Sia. Rihanna’s ‘interpretation‘ stays very close to Sia’s vocal intonation. To see how close, check out Sia’s performance of Rihanna’s smash ‘Diamonds’ at the Norwegian-American Achievement Award, where she performed the track with her co-writers, the Norwegian production team Stargate.

Rihanna took her latest single ‘Diamonds‘ to the stage of X Factor results show. Her performance featured continuous rain falling down (in a studio!) and fog machines. It resulted in a dramatic performance, although she looked a bit like a drowned cat towards the end.

Rihanna’s new album, Unapologetic, made its chart debut at #1 today.

Rihanna performs Only Girl during her 777 tour in Stockholm

As you might have read on some of the other music blogs, Rihanna is on a whirlwind ‘777‘ promo tour where she performs in 7 countries in 7 days and has taken 150 journos and fans with her on a Boeing 777 plane. This all sounds quite glam to start off with, but when you realise you basically spend 7 days in transit to and from the airport and on planes, we’re quite glad to be at home.

Here’s an official video of Rihanna performing ‘Only Girl In The World‘ in Stockholm. Unfortunately the vocals that are live, are all over the place.

Rihanna premieres brand new video ‘Diamonds’

Rihanna shines bright in her brand new video for ‘Diamonds‘. Looking glamorous and vulnerable, the video is interspersed with epic clips of horses running wild and a burning building in downtown Los Angeles.

‘Diamonds’ is the first single to be lifted off Rihanna’s seventh studio album ‘Unapologetic‘. The album features collaborations with Chris Brown, Eminem and Future and David Guetta, as well as a writing credit from Emeli Sande. Unapologetic is out November 19.

Well here it is then – yet another new single from the Duracell bunny of pop, Rihanna. Unlike her last two lead singles ‘We Found Love’ and ‘Only Girl’, ‘Diamonds‘ is not a full on dancefloor belter, despite being hugely repetitive. It’s not exactly a ballad either, but we shan’t bother analysing it any further than that because the follow-up single will probably have been released before we’ve even finished writing this post.

This year’s MTV Video Music Awards will be dominated by Rihanna and Drake. Both have been nominated five times each.
