And here's 'Under The Sun' by Cheryl Cole. It's a bit wishy-washy if you ask me.

I really like the title track A Million Lights, a dramatic dubstep-ish (?) ballad.

the lana del rey song is nice, mainly coz it has a clear Lana style.. looks like Cheryl just copied the demo song.. she needs to realize that she isn't a RnB singer but a pop one.. :)

Interesting observation by the Daily Mail:

While with singers like Lana Del Rey, Kylie, Cher or Madonna, they all have a distinct style, even when music styles change. Cheryl seems to be lacking that on 'A Million Lights' - it's not quite sure where it wants to go.

Oh, she's very much liked here in the UK. It's probably more her personality people buy into (she used to be on the UK X Factor as a judge, and before then, 10 years ago, she was on a similar talent show as a contestant and went on to win and be part of Girls Aloud).

Don't get me wrong, her album isn't bad, but it lacks cohesion and a style of its own. Nothing on the album says, 'Oh, that's a typical Cheryl Cole song'. If feels like a collection of decent songs.

I agree - I like the odd song here, odd one there (although REALLY love Call my Name and Fight for this Love so 2 classics is more than most acts ever come up with). She's basically not a musician - she's a performer, dancer really. So really needs talented people behind her to get her the songs and give her direction and theme. This album is at least sounding better than that last abomination. And great she's got tour dates coming up. I think she'll be great - she's such a great dancer, sexy, character that will really connect but she must must stay away from some hideous kids and mums show. Someone asked previously what they would like her to include. I think she could do a brilliant sexy homage to disco - make it quite dark and sleazy so mums don't feel they can clap along. Disco music like Chic has layered voices and sounds and so works great with her non voice, they couldmodern it up, I dunno....its the classic era of dance - maybe too old. Perhaps some 90s stuff. I just would prefer dance covers over too much RnB

Ouch, looks like Cheryl Cole's new album ‘A Million Lights’ will be missing the top spot this week.

According to official midweek figures, Cheryl's album has sold just over 10,000 copies (so far) and is set to debut at #2 on the Official UK Album Chart this Sunday (with an expected 40-60k copies sold). Cheryl is currently being outsold by Justin Bieber‘s ‘Believe’ on a ratio of 2:1 (physical units).

Perhaps people are realising Cheryl tends to release pretty strong lead singles, but the albums generally disappoint.

Have you bought the album this week?

I'm really surprised that Justin is in the lead, I'd have thought Cheryl had this in the bag. Will be interesting to see if she takes over by Sunday, given her (presumably) wider/older fanbase.

No I won't buy it for exactly the reason you state. Her albums thus far have been truly dire and from bits I've heard, this one is also shit. Such a shame - who is it in her entourage that is selecting the dreary filler????

I like this album.. but its styles vary a lot and it's hard to keep up with its ever-changing influences. My favourite tracks are 'Screw You' 'Craziest Things' 'Ghetto Baby' and 'Girl in the Mirror'..

I'm surprised you like Ghetto Baby. I don't really understand what the fuzz is all about because Lana Del Rey wrote it. It sounds like filler. But Screw You is pretty good, although I doubt it will do as well as Call My Name. In fact 'Name' is the best track on the album by miles.

So she failed to hit the top spot because of Justin Bieber. Bit silly to release your record the same week he does, mind you a week later and she would have competed with Maroon 5's Overexposed.

I think I like Ghetto Baby because of its Del Rey-stylee. I'm a big fan of Lana..:)
