I love a bit of Donna Summer. Really sad she passed away. I was actually listening to her 2010 single 'To Paris With Love' on the tube this morning. Also loved her classics 'Last Dance', 'I Feel Love', 'She Works Hard for the Money' and 'Enough Is Enough'. All very very camp. Oh, the days of disco.

Very sad news, and so soon after MCA lost his battle with cancer :(

This remix of I Feel Love is rarely off my ipod:

I made a Donna playlist for tube home today then heard news when I got in. I get very emotionally attached to artists I love and I was very attached to her. Mac Arthur Park was hit when I was v young and just thought it was amazing when the intro kicked into the soaring disco. I think thats my favourite but also love Down Deep Inside which has magic of John Barry on it. Love all those above too. She was even doing good stuff last year (or 2009 /10) - Stamp your feet. Blub. I don't like these people dying. RIP Donna and thanks for all the magic.xxx

I've been revisiting her back catalogue for the past couple of days, she was the Queen of Disco, but there was also far more to her than that. Each album has a distinct different sound from solid pop to new wave to dance, I don't think she got enough credit for her diversity. Another Place And Time is one of my favourite, some of DS and SAW's best work. Her latest album Crayons was also wonderful - I'd really recommend Science of Love

It seems she was pouring her heart and soul into her last album, so hopefully it gets a respectful posthumous treatment.

I've actually never listened to her SAW material (The best of I had didn't feature them). But I'll make sure to check them out.

I remember reading she'd planned an album with the Freemasons. Wish she'd gone ahead with that, I bet it would've been amazing.

My copy of 'Donna Summer: For The Record' just arrived so I'm going to listen to 'Once Upon A Time' in its entirety while I have a read. Concept albums aren't really something I pay much attention to but if the concept's Disco Cinderella then consider me ON BOARD.

Such a great loss to the music world.. I love her!! Last dance being my all time fav track (good memories)..
Isn't there an album of new tracks that just needs to be finished off?
I'm hoping it will be released, the tracks are supposed to be very NOW!!

I'm not sure if it's the all out dance album she was finishing or one with classic jazz standards that she kept promising. I'm hoping it's the first, not that her voice wouldn't be perfect for some smooth jazz covers. Someone on another forum mentioned a track called Melanie, she released on her album I'm A Rainbow, I gave it a listen and am now completely hooked - definitely a hidden classic.
