    It’s Mother’s Day next week (US), and to mark the occasion the ever-cheerful Tori Amos has decided to gift you a free download, ‘Maybe California’. Thanks, Tori!

    Be warned, if you burn ‘Maybe California’ on to a CD and present it to your mum, she might top herself - the song was written from one mother to another, with one contemplating suicide.

    Despite wide critical praise and a fair amount of hype, Dragonette’s 2007 debut Galore failed to set the charts alight. They’ll be back later this year with a more ‘masculine-sounding’ second album (August/September), but in the meantime, they’re giving away their new single ‘Fixin’ To Thrill’.

    Sadly, Dutch rocker Anouk didn’t break through internationally with her sublime ‘Good God’ single back in 2007. Hopefully her 6th studio album, expected in September, will change all that. She’s given fans a taster by performing a track - ‘Today’ - from the record at Holland’s PinkPop festival, but for those of you who missed it, you can download the mp3 file for free until the 8th of June.
