It’s Mother’s Day next week (US), and to mark the occasion the ever-cheerful Tori Amos has decided to gift you a free download, ‘Maybe California’. Thanks, Tori!
Describing the song, she says: “There are people in our lives, and we all know them, that are able to give even in the darkest of times. Even when they seem depleted. But somehow by giving, they gain this magical light. Even the most giving person needs a gift every once and a while, just to know they are seen and appreciated. ‘Maybe California’ is my gift to you.”
Be warned, if you burn ‘Maybe California’ on to a CD and present it to your mum, she might top herself – the song was written from one mother to another, with one contemplating suicide.

‘Maybe California’ is taken from Tori’s new album ‘Abnormally Attracted To Sin’, released May 18th (UK) / 19th (US). Each song on the album comes with a ‘visualette’ of documentary style footage captured over the past year.
