Bender's Big Score
You might have noticed that ‘The Simpsons Movie’ finally appeared this year. Or maybe not – it’s not as if a lot of fuss was made…anyway, much as we love the antics of Homer and Spiderpig, the one thing that really blew our minds was the trailer that came on just before our Simpsons Movie DVD started last night. That’s right – OMG – ‘Futurama: The Movie’ is coming!
Well, sort of.
As there is NO JUSTICE in the world, the genius of Futurama has inexplicably eluded most people thus far. As a result, evil parent network Fox cancelled the show after its fourth season. But (forget what was just said about there being no justice in the world) the creators clearly thought ‘stuff them’ and went ahead to make 4 feature-length instalments of Futurama anyway. Woo!
The first, Bender’s Big Score, has just been released on DVD to our lucky American cousins, but you can get your greasy paws on it if you’re willing to pay import prices (you will also require a DVD player that can handle region 1 DVDs. Bah!) WAPS suggests you wait until it appears properly on UK shelves, although we don’t know how long we can hold out either.
Once all 4 DVD movies have been released, Comedy Central US will divide each one into 4 parts and screen them over 16 weeks – let’s hope Sky One have plans to screen it in 2008.
