Toni Braxton: Melt (Like An Iceberg)
Saturday, 15 November 2008

Toni Braxton will make a comeback in 2009!

Toni Braxton
is finally making a comeback! First track to surface from her as-yet-untitled-album, is ‘Melt (Like An Iceberg)’. No, this song is not about global warming, it’s one of Braxton’s usual topics; passion. It’s a good song, but not exciting enough to make the impact her comeback needs.

ToniBraxtonWeb reports the executive producer team for Toni’s new album include Harvey Mason Jr. and Damon Thomas. The production duo previously collaborated with Toni on the tracks “Supposed to Be” [co-written by Keri Hilson], “Finally” [co-written by Durrell “Tank” Babbs] and “I Wanna Be Your Baby” [co-written by Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds].

Other musicians backing Braxton on the as-yet-untitled project are Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins (Michael Jackson, Beyonce Knowles), The Writing Camp: Evan “Kidd” Bogart, Erika “E-Nuri” Nuri & David “DQ” Quinones (Britney Spears, Christina Milian), Soulshock & Karlin: Carsten Schack and Kenneth Karlin (Keyshia Cole, Mary J. Blige), Claude Kelly (Brandy, Whitney Houston) and Nadir ‘RedOne’ Khayat (Lady Gaga, Enrique Iglesias).

Atlantic Records hopes to have music out by Braxton in early 2009.

January 5th 2009 sees the release of ‘new’ Kylie album ‘Boombox’, a remix collection of her biggest hits from the Parlophone era. The tracks have been re-swizzled by the likes of Chemical Brothers, Fischerspooner, Mylo and Sebastien Leger.  It’s all terribly Shoreditch, darling!

Christina Aguilera denies knowing Lady Gaga
Wednesday, 12 November 2008
Christina Aguilera versus Lady Gaga

All that bleach must have gone to Xtina’s tiny head. In a new interview with the Los Angeles Times, Aguilera hits back at claims that she stole the signature style of fellow singer Lady Gaga, just to sell a few more copies of her Greatest Hits album, Keeps Gettin’ Better.

"What do you say to those on the Internet who are hinting that you borrowed Lady Gaga’s look?
You know, that’s funny that you mention that. This person [Lady Gaga] was just brought to my attention not too long ago. I’m not quite sure who this person is, to be honest. I don’t know if it is a man or a woman. I just wasn’t sure. I really don’t spend any time on the Internet, so I guess I live a little under a rock in that respect.

It’s a shame Christina has to be so bitchy about it. When Blender Magazine asked Lady Gaga about Aguilera's performance at the 2008 Video Music Awards she said, "A lot of people have been saying that she is copying my style with her new song. I guess it bares somewhat of a resemblance but I wouldn't say she is copying me. This type of dance music is becoming more popular and I don't blame her for wanting to make and perform it. Her performance was great and it's [Keeps Getting’ Better] is a hot track."

Brandy: Drum Life (new song)
Tuesday, 11 November 2008
Brandy: Human album
We loved ‘Right Here (Departed)’, even though it didn’t chart that well (Billboard Hot 100: #53). The other leaked Brandy tracks that followed were a bit so, so. But this new Timbaland produced song ‘Drum Life’ is catchy and sounds surprisingly fresh for the man who has produced the majority of pop-meets-urban hits the past few years.

What do you think of this song, and are you looking forward to Brandy’s new album ‘Human’ (still slated for a December 8th release)?
