Gabriella Cilmi: Warm This Winter
Wednesday, 10 December 2008
We meant to write about Gabriella’s new Christmas song ages ago. Her cheery ‘Warm This Winter’ features in the current Co-op Christmas ad, and will be included on the obligatory re-issue of her debut album, ‘Lessons To Be Learned’.

Previous TV efforts include the theme tune for Echo beach and the use of ‘Sweet About Me’ in the Sure deodorant commercial.

Tuesday, 09 December 2008
Now that Kanye has officially taken autotune just about as far as it can go, perhaps we should start using those vocal chords again... Michelle Williams, take note.

New music: 'Angel' by Liz Scott
Tuesday, 09 December 2008
Liz Scott

Who is Liz Scott? Well. WAPS will tell you.

She was born in Australia to English parents, but spent time growing up in diverse countries such as Papua New Guinea, Guam and the UK. All these different surroundings are an inspiration to her music today, maaaan.

Liz’s debut single, the rather lovely dance-pop number ‘Angel’, is out this week via MadeRecords.com (followed by a general release on December 16th.) ‘Angel’ was created with the help of renowned producer Markus Moser (the man behind iiO’s massive ‘Rapture’ hit).

Liz Scott’s debut album ‘Princess’ is scheduled for a February 2009 release.

It's Not Me, It's You – Lily Allen's new album (tracklist + cover)
Tuesday, 09 December 2008
Lily Allen - It's Not Me, It's You (cover)

February 9th 2009 sees the release of Lily Allen’s long-awaited second album, ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’. Allen recorded the follow up to 2006’s critically acclaimed ‘Alright Still’ exclusively with Greg Kurstin – which, given his CV (Kylie, Sia, Britney, Ladyhawke, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Beck, Jamelia – the list goes on), is a very good thing indeed.

"We decided to try and make bigger sounding, more ethereal songs, real songs," says Lily, who will be touring the U.S. in the spring. "I wanted to work with one person from start to finish to make it one body of work. I wanted it to feel like it had some sort of integrity. I think I've grown up a bit as a person and I hope it reflects that."

Snippets of ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’ have appeared on Lily’s famed MySpace page over the past 6 months and it’s safe to say WAPS is very excited as a result.

The track listing for ‘It's Not Me, It's You’ is as follows:
1. Everyone's At It (listen to it here)
2. The Fear (watch the video here)
3. It's Not Fair
4. 22
5. I Could Say
6. Go Back To the Start
7. Never Gonna Happen
8. Fuck You
9. Who'd've Known
10. Chinese
11. Him
12. He Wasn't There

The soundtrack to the Mirror’s Edge TV ad
Monday, 08 December 2008

In case you were wondering what song soundtracks the Mirror’s Edge video game advert, it’s ‘Still Alive’ by Swedish singer Lisa Miskovsky. Here’s the original version.

We’re particularly charmed by the Teddybears remix; the same band who originally performed Robyn’s amazing ‘Cobrastyle’.
