Both Sugababes and Girls Aloud have recently partaken in Radio 1’s Live Lounge, with the former covering Keane’s ‘Spiralling’ and the latter having a stab at One Republic’s ‘Apologise’.

Who do you think comes out on top?

And we now have a video for Keane's 'Spiralling'. It's sort of cool, but just looks a little like CGI on budget (could it be the credit crunch?) It's still an amazing song though (bar the U2 bit at 02:14).

Well, Keane stays true to their promise on delivering an album which ignores the rules of good taste. Another track ‘Better Than This’ was played on radio and subsequently made it to the internet. It’s an unusually happy song with handclapping (can’t go wrong with handclaps!). Unlike Coldplay, who described their album Viva la Vida as a new direction for them, Keane actually seems to deliver on this.

Keane
What’s this? Apparently the boys from Keane made a pact with Stuart Price (a.k.a. the man behind Madonna’s Confessions…) to ignore the rules of good taste, while they were recording their new album ‘Perfect Symmetry’ (out 13th October 2008).

Well, we’re not exactly sure how we feel about this. Keane are just too bland, and it seems Madonna sucked all the magic out of Stuart Price (Seal’s album was the poor man’s version of Confessions). Could this be a fun album?

Keane will release a new song called Spiralling on Monday, August 4 at keanemusic.com.

Here is the radio  version on YouTube.

Melee - Devils and Angels
Shocking artwork though.
This is the kind of song that appears once in a while and absolutely refuses to go away – you mark our words.  We think it will be 2008’s ‘Bad Day’ (Daniel Powter) or ‘How To Save A Life’ (The Fray). It sounds very much like Keane  - who better get their skates on before Melee steal their wuss-rock crown - and would fit beautifully over the end of a particularly uplifting episode of Dawson’s Creek where Joey and Pacey finally realise they’re meant to be together. Or something. Click for a YouTube clip .
