Take That - The Circus

Last week saw Britney’s ‘Circus’ arriving at various locations across the world, and tonight was Take That’s turn to showcase their similarly-titled new album ‘The Circus’. Their ITV special was more engaging and ever so British; i.e. a little cringey at times, but all the more entertaining.

Kicking off with latest single ‘Greatest Day’, they kept the momentum by following up with recent hits ‘Shine’, ‘Patience’ and ‘Rule The World’, as well as the old-school smashes ‘Never Forget’ and ‘Back For Good’.

Other highlights of the night included a pop quiz hosted by X-Factor parody Britain's Got The Pop Factor ‘winner’ Geraldine McQueen.

Overall it was a typically entertaining offering from the boys - though for a show intended to promote their new album, it played it very safe: they only performed three new songs, including their current single ‘Greatest Day’.

It was Take That week on the X-Factor this week, which meant the man-band kicked off the show with a performance of their new single ‘Greatest Day’.

And our favourite Alexandra Burke gave a great rendition of their song ‘Relight My Fire’. We love her enthusiasm and lack of drama.

Take That’s new album ‘The Circus’ will be released December 1. The same day Britney releases her album ‘Circus’. And on that note, make sure you tune in next week, as Ms Spears will be performing on the show (November 29th)!

Take That will be back this Christmas

Good news for Take That fans, The Sun reports the men have wrapped up work on their follow-up to ‘Beautiful World’. The yet untitled album, will feature the provisionally titled song ‘This Wonderful World’, which Gary thinks is the best he’s ever written. There seems to be some theme going on with them; ‘Beautiful World’, ‘Rule the World’ and now ‘This Wonderful World’...

Their fifth album is expected in time for Christmas.

The buzz around NKOTB’s comeback has been building for a while now. As is customary these days, one of their new tracks - a RedOne /Akon collaboration - has found its way on to the internet.

If you were hoping for some reflective, wise lyrics and sensible acoustic guitars (a la Take That), well - keep moving, people, nothing to see here.

These wrong-side-of -30 ‘kids’ have opted for bog-standard R&B with words about buying cocktails for girls. Imagine your dad having a mid-life crisis and recording it.
Smooth.

Lily Allen in the studio
Lily in the studio
At one point we were a bit over Lily Allen. And then this happened. She has continued uploading exciting demos since. Today a new song called 'Who'd of known' appeared on her MySpace page. It samples a song by Take That (is it 'Shine'?), so it will probably be taken down soon. While you're there, make sure you listen to 'Guess Who Batman?' - a clever and most of all, fun song about the British National Party. We're getting very excited about Lily's sophomore album.
