We were rather excited by the thought of a Flaming Lips and Kesha collaboration, but unfortunately ‘2012‘ sees the Lips at their most self indulgent. We wholeheartedly support a bit of artiness every now and then, but not when the results are borderline unlistenable. Oh well, it’s a nice little curiosity for superfans – as is the free sample of Kesha blood hidden inside a limited run of the vinyls.
’2012′ is lifted from ‘THE FLAMING LIPS AND HEADY FWENDS’, a strictly limited double vinyl album released exlusively to mark Record Store Day. Each copy has unique artwork and coloured vinyl, meaning no two versions are alike. Shame the music isn’t as pretty as the packaging…
