Princess Kylie
Our pop darling Kylie Minogue has received an OBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours List. She said she was “almost as surprised as I am honoured”.
“I feel deeply touched to be acknowledged by the UK, my adopted home, in this way”, she said from her family home in Melbourne.
Kylie said: “This last year I have felt so much love and support from everyone as I took greater steps back into the public domain, and it is with absolute gratitude and joy that I say farewell to 2007 and look forward to what the New Year will bring.”
“Now, please go and buy ‘X’.” (We may have made the last bit up…)
‘I Should Be So Lucky’, her first UK hit, reached number one 20 years ago.
The Order of the British Empire titles are rewarded to British citizens in recognition of their contributions to society. The Order includes five ranks; in decreasing order of seniority, these are: Knight or Dame Grand Cross (GBE), Knight or Dame Commander (KBE or DBE), Commander (CBE), Officer (OBE) and Member (MBE).
Wonder if Dannii will get one next year? We won’t hold our breath…
Celine Dion is odd: Proof!
