Rumours about Robbie Williams rejoining Take That have been flying around for a long, long time. Yesterday those rumours were confirmed.
Apparently the reunion happened in New York last September, following Take That’s Circus tour. Shortly afterwards, all five original members secretly wrote and recorded six songs which would set the foundations for the forthcoming album and tour.
Here at WAPS we’re not particularly bothered about Robbie rejoining the band (though it will be interesting to see how their profile grows outside of the UK as a result); what does get us excited is the prospect of Stuart Price steering the whole thing. Not only has Stuart produced Madonna’s Confessions On A Dance Floor and Kylie Minogue‘s excellent Aphrodite, he has done some pretty amazing work with The Killers, Scissor Sisters and the forthcoming solo album from Brandon Flowers. The combination of Gary Barlow’s songwriting skills plus Price’s production wizardy could lead to some epic (and hopefully dancey) songs.
The new, as yet untitled, Take That album is due in November, but before that we can enjoy a duet from Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow in October.
