Even if you weren’t entirely convinced by Sky Ferreira’s buzz track 17 (think Avril and Ke$ha scrapping it out over the last pair of glitter leggings at an American Apparel sale), we’d strongly advise you to check out her latest tune ‘One‘.
Gone is the rather shrill angst of ’17′ and in its place come layers of wistful, chopped-up vocals and a filtered electro backing that reminds us of Cut Copy and Empire of the Sun. Fittingly for such a melancholy summer sound, ‘One’ was produced by dependable production duo Bloodshy & Avant (who’ve worked with Madonna, Britney, Kylie and Jordin Sparks among others, not to mention their own band Miike Snow) and sees 17-year-old Ferreira carving out an extremely promising direction.
‘One’ will be Ferreira’s official debut single, and a Rankin-shot video will follow shortly.
