Country darling Taylor Swift is back with a brand new single. ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together!‘ is the lead single off her fourth studio album Red, due for release 22nd October.
The new single has been written and produced by Max Martin and Shellback. The slick radio-friendly vocal production reminds us a little of ‘Call Me Maybe’ by Carly Rae Jepsen – perhaps not a coincidence.
While Swift wrote her last album alone, Red features songs from a variety of producers and co-writers “from all different places in music”. Collaborators include Dan Wilson, Butch Walker, Lori McKenna, Ed Sheeran and Mark Foster of Foster the People.
About the album title, she said:
“I called it ‘Red’ because of the tumultuous, crazy adventures in love and loss that it chronicles. In my mind, when you experience love that’s fast paced and out of control and mixes infatuation, jealousy, frustration, miscommunication, and all of those lovely emotions…in retrospect, it all looks red.”
