Video: Ellie Goulding murders Rihanna’s ‘Only Girl’ on Radio 1

I don’t think she murdered the song, she has just put a different stamp on it. I actually prefer this version, its less commercial and more real.

ok.. she may not be your taste but everyone I seem to talk to does so… yeah abit much of an attack there, and her cover of ‘your song’ is abit cheesy but generally quite sweet.

i think the term ‘real’ is rather vague and elitist. is ellie’s version more ‘real’ just because it’s done acoustically and so appears to be more emotional? to me personally this is more a fun song that doesn’t need to be bogged down with emotional realness. what makes the original ‘real’ to me is the confidence and sass that rihanna shows in her performance, which is what i think the songs about.

Of course its biased, this is a blog you dick. They don’t like it, so say so. I agree, she is awful, this cover terrible and the Elton version beyond bad. At least Pixie Lott is cute & some tunes.

similarly, i agree with most of what WAPS writes and although the original is a monstrously brilliant piece of pop but i found this version quite sweet and endearing and thank you for posting it
